Naxalites of the banned CPI Maoist organization targeted the Howrah-Mumbai main railway line of Chakradharpur railway division by detonating a bomb between Goilkera and Posaita stations around 11 pm on Thursday night.
The blast resulted in the suspension of train operations along the affected route, causing disruption on the Howrah-Mumbai main railway line. As a precaution, the Shalimar-Kurla Up Express train (18030) was halted at Goilkera and Rourkela station. Multiple trains, including the Utkal Express and the Porbandar Shalimar Express, were stranded at Manoharpur.
Passengers experienced significant inconvenience due to the sudden halt in train services.
The Naxalite organization, which had called for a Bharat Bandh on December 22, initiated the disruption by exploding the railway track on the third line between pole number 356/29A and 31A, displaying banners and posters at the site.
Upon receiving information about the explosion, railway authorities swiftly halted train operations across the entire Chakradharpur railway division. A security force team was dispatched to the location to assess the situation. As of now, train operations between Manoharpur and Chakradharpur stations on the Howrah-Mumbai main railway route have resumed.
